COLUMBIA, Mo. — After a 35-3 victory over SEC opponent Missouri on the Tigers’ turf Saturday, Purdue players were talking “statement.”
They were able to get one by, largely, executing impressive game plans — on both sides of the ball.
Against a Missouri defense that rarely pressured Purdue’s receivers and that has talented players on the front four, Jeff Brohm made sure the ball was out of the QB’s hands quickly. And that showed up in the pass chart.
Against a Missouri offense that featured one of the SEC’s top running backs and a potentially potent passing game that would take shots, the Boilermakers made stopping the run a priority again, then mixed up its coverages to suffocate the passing game.
And the blowout — probably more than the heat, actually — offered Purdue coaches a chance to rotate more than they had all season. Who played? How much? That and much more in the “Boilermaker Breakdown.”
