More: Blough happy to return | Jeff Brohm video
Day 1 analysis ($): Daily | What stood out
David Blough's unexpected availability for spring practices changed the dynamic of Purdue's quarterback situation this spring, but position coach Brian Brohm knows he still has a challenge, nurturing a pair of freshmen over the course of 15 practices.
Redshirt freshman Nick Sipe and true freshman Jack Plummer, who enrolled in January, took all of the first- and second-team 11-on-11 snaps in Monday's first practice as veteran Blough, coming off ankle surgery, watched.
"It's good for our young guys to get all those reps," Brohm said Monday. "It's an invaluable opportunity for them to be able to get in there with the (No.) 1 offense, call the cadence, go through all the mechanics. It's invaluable for them. It's great for us to get to see them in that setting and be able to evaluate them. It's really kind of a blessing in disguise a little bit for those guys."
(More from Brohm on the young QBs in the video. Plus, Sipe's take on his first day and what he expects this spring below.)
