Former Wake Forest assistant coach Derrick Jackson's addition to Purdue's coaching staff likely completes Jeff Brohm's group.

Though Jackson was given no position designation in the school's release of his hiring, Jackson's most recent experience is coaching defensive backs. It's presumed Jackson would coach cornerbacks for the Boilermakers, while Anthony Poindexter would coach the safeties. But that is not official.

The presumption the staff is complete is because it's likely Chris Barclay, Brohm's running backs coach at Western Kentucky, will fill the vacant running backs coach role. Barclay already is on Brohm's staff, but his position was identified as an offensive quality control coach. With Gerad Parker now gone, accepting a position at Cincinnati, the expectation is Barclay will move into an on-field assistant position.

It's possible Brohm will need to add a 10th on-field coach later in the spring if the NCAA approves the proposal. But, for now, his staff appears to be complete.

A former safety for Duke, Jackson spent the last five seasons with the Demon Deacons, the last three of which were as cornerbacks coach. He was defensive backs coach in 2013 and outside linebackers coach in 2012.

Jackson's previous stints were primarily as a defensive line coach. He coached the position at Rice, Akron, Syracuse, Michigan State, Northern Illinois, Eastern Illinois and Army. His first two seasons as a coach from 1999-01 were coaching tight ends at West Georgia.
