Purdue defensive tackle Eddy Wilson, a key reserve this season and one of the Boilermaker defense’s more talented players, announced Sunday he will pursue an NFL career instead of trying to return to Purdue for his senior season.

After the junior was academically ineligible for the Foster Farms Bowl, it’s unclear whether he’d have been able to return to the Boilermakers.

The loss is not a particularly surprising one for Purdue, which also loses key senior Gelen Robinson at the position.
