Midway through his debut season at Purdue, junior forward Eden Ewing has been dismissed from the team, for the standard "violation of team rules," Purdue announced Thursday morning.

“It’s unfortunate that this didn’t work out for Eden and we wish him the best in his future plans,” Matt Painter said in a released statement.

Ewing came to Purdue as one of the most highly regarded junior college forwards in the country, choosing it over Iowa State, LSU and Fresno State.

But after enrolling in July, a month later than classmates, he never found a niche in Purdue's playing rotation, neither in the World University Games nor the season to this point.

He was averaging just four-and-a-half minutes through the first 13 games of the season and seemed an unlikelihood to find an increased role. He's played in only six games, all blowouts.
