Long played for Padua Franciscan High in Parma, Ohio, which is a suburb of Cleveland. Padua Franciscan High is a small, private, coed school. Long finished his senior season with 59 tackles, including 35 solo stops, with 2.0 tackles for loss. He was a first-team Division III All-State selection by Cleveland.com as a senior. in addition to being first-team All Northeast Lakes District and first-team North Coast League.
