Former Purdue split end Larry Burton was on the ballot for induction into the College Football Hall of Fame released Wednesday.
Burton is one of 75 players from a Football Bowl Subdivision school to be a candidate for the Hall.
During the mid-1970s, Burton was a first-team All-American for the Boilermakers and led the team in receiving in 1973 and 1974. He was the "Outstanding College Athlete of America" and a first-team All-Big Ten selection in 1974, the same year he was a team captain and team MVP.
The 2017 Class will be revealed Jan. 6, 2017, in Tampa, Fla. The class will be inducted in December 2017 at the 60th NFF Annual Awards Dinner in New York City.
