It's crystal clear at this point that Brandon Newman is an impact shooter for Purdue, now shooting 47 percent from three-point range, but also an impactful all-around scorer.

He's probably not a finished product defensively, but he's been disruptive, and has really taken one for the team the past two games as he's taken on the responsibility of guarding point guards full-court when Isaiah Thompson is out of the game. That's not something he'd be doing if Purdue had anywhere near a full roster. It's no small task.

In terms of production, Newman has been great for the Boilermakers through three games.

But in the big picture of this season and this team he might mean something else.
