To help commemorate the 20-year anniversary of Purdue's magical turnaround 1997 season, GoldandBlack.com's staff will break up the rosters and select the best players to wear a Boilermaker uniform since Coach Joe Tiller's first season on the sidelines.
GoldandBlack.com's 20-year Purdue player draft will have 100 players chosen — two picks each weekday over 10 weeks. Boilermakers who were on Purdue rosters between 1997-2017 are eligible for selection. The draft order is Alan Karpick, Stacy Clardie, Kyle Charters and Brian Neubert.
Karpick is putting the finishing touches on his team with his last offensive player.
Draft ticker: Nos. 1-80
Cole Herdman might be the player who stands to gain the most with Jeff Brohm on the sidelines.
As a sophomore, he snagged 35 passes for three touchdowns, nearly doubling his production for a year before. Can he double it again? I supposed anything is possible with the offense Brohm hopes to put on the field.
With the luxury I have at quarterback, I need a guy that has good hands, can block a bit and doesn't mind being a role player. All of that seems to suit Herdman and it rounds out my offense with a good mix and match of speed and athleticism.
And I consider it a good sign when my fellow staff members groan when I make a selection. Unless they are baiting me, and it is a little late in the game for that, I take it as a compliment.
