SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Robert Phinisee has a solid group of early offers to choose from in the three of Indiana's top college basketball programs: Purdue, Indiana and Butler.

But the McCutcheon point guard says he isn't narrowing his focus to just those schools as the Class of 2018 member also fields interest from Xavier, Nebraska, Louisville and Stanford at this point.

Last month, Phinisee made unofficial visits to Purdue (update), Butler and Xavier and said he may take repeat visits to some of those schools after July.

"I'm open to whoever's interested in me," Phinisee said at the adidas Gauntlet event last week in South Carolina. "I'm not going to make a decision any time soon. I'm just going to show interest in whoever shows interest in me."

The focus, rather, is on winning and improvement.

"I want to keep getting stronger and keep shooting my shot with confidence," said Phinisee, who helped McCutcheon to the Class 4A title game as a sophomore. "Sometimes I don't shoot with confidence. And I need to keep being a leader out there and do whatever I can do to keep my teammates involved."

The jump shot is a point of emphasis for a player quick and savvy enough to put himself in position to create open looks for himself, whether it be at the rim, pull-up jumpers or runners in the lane.

"I know I'm really quick, so some people back off of me," Phinisee said. "… I have to keep shooting it and getting better arc on it so people can't block it. I feel like if I get that down, I can be a pretty complete player."
