Maybe next time Markell Jones will just take the play off.
Even when Purdue didn't need Jones to chip a defender against Cincinnati, he did. And it banged up his left shoulder, injuring the AC joint.
But Jones spent last week rehabbing and working in the pit in practice and didn't do much again on Tuesday. That rest — as well as a couple well-timed cortisone shots — should allow him to be back on the field Saturday against Nevada, he said after Tuesday's practice.
