Jackson out indefinitely

Purdue hoped its injury woes from a year ago were behind it.
So far, though, it would appear as if the opposite is true.

After freshman big man Sandi Marcius was lost for up to six weeks to a broken foot early on in preseason practice, the Boilermakers sustained another major injury Thursday.
On the eve of the regular season opener, point guard and returning starter Lewis Jackson injured his foot.
"Lewis is out indefinitely right now," Coach Matt Painter said after his team's season-opening blowout of Cal State Northridge. "He injured his foot. We're waiting to find out. I don't know how long (he'll be out).
"He's going to be out for a while. We just have to figure out how long he's going to be out."
Jackson started most of last season, but has not yet taken the floor this season, because he was suspended for the exhibition season and season opener.
But he was expected again to be a major contributor upon returning to the floor for the Paradise Jam in the Virgin Islands, which tips off next weekend.
Freshman Kelsey Barlow and senior Mark Wohlford stand to make up the minutes lost with Jackson, while Keaton Grant primarily handles the point.
