Last year, Purdue pulled an excellent wide receiver prospect out of Jeff Brohm's native Louisville when it signed Milton Wright for its 2019 recruiting class.

It would like to do the same in 2020.

Male's Izayah Cummings holds a Boilermaker offer and has visited multiple times and may again soon.

The 6-foot-3, 210-pound Rivals.com three-star prospect previously visited for a Purdue practice, then the win over Ohio State in the fall, and said he is likely to return March 30 for a junior-day event being hosted that weekend.

"It's pretty awesome there," Cummings said. "I've been there a couple times and love their weight room and everything."

As is its way with wide receiver recruits, Purdue is pushing its reputation for pass-heavy offense and potential for early playing time.

"They said they need big wide receivers, and they're only recruiting a few wide receivers right now," Cummings said, "and they want to get me there with Rondale and (David Bell) and Milton and all them."

Cummings also holds offers from both in-state programs — Louisville and Kentucky — as well as Duke, Missouri, Cincinnati, Indiana and others. Notre Dame, Michigan and Penn State, he said, are some others who've shown interest.

"Coaches like the way I go up and attack the ball in the air," Cummings said. "They think I play big in big moments."

Cummings said he hopes to make official visits this summer, and some unofficials prior, including the upcoming trip to Purdue, which he was slated to visit for a basketball game in the winter before those plans changed due to inclement weather.

"I'd like to make an immediate impact," Cummings said of his eventual decision, "and get a good education for my life after football."

Cummings said he knows fellow Louisville products Moore and Wright, as well as offensive lineman D.J. Washington, from high school, perhaps part of the reason Purdue has been one of those that's stood out early to the wide receiver.

"They're up at the top for sure," he said, "right now most definitely in my top group."
