Purdue adds junior college defensive back for January

T.J. Jallow, an important target for Purdue as Jeff Brohm puts together his first recruiting class, is in the fold.

The 6-foot-2, 200-plus-pound projected safety from East Mississippi Community College, committed to the Boilermakers this afternoon and will subsequently sign and enroll in January.

"I chose Purdue because it's a land of opportunity," Jallow said late Wednesday night.

Jallow, a former Louisville commitment, officially visited Purdue this past weekend, the only official visit he got to take. He said after the weekend he'd choose between Purdue and Kansas, after calling the visit to West Lafayette a "game-changer" for him.

Purdue also signed mid-year junior college transfers Ethan Smart, an offensive tackle, and Kai Higgins, a defensive end. Early enrolling freshmen Tyler Hamilton (wide receiver) and Jalen Jackson (offensive guard) also committed as mid-year enrollments, though their signings can't be officially announced by the school until February.
