Purdue bringing a third Western Kentucky commitment over

Purdue has landed a commitment from Tennessee defensive end Giovanni Hightower-Reviere, according to his Twitter account.

The 6-foot-6, 255-pounder from McCallie School in Chattanooga had recently backed away from a pledge to Western Kentucky after Purdue offered him a scholarship last week.

Hightower-Reviere is the third former Hilltopper commitment who's committed to follow Coach Jeff Brohm to West Lafayette. Offensive lineman Jalen Jackson switched first and signed to enroll at Purdue next month. Tight end prospect Darius Pittman also switched from Western Kentucky.

"After Coach Brohm came over from Western Kentucky, he told me he really liked my style of play and really liked me as a person," Hightower-Reviere said. "We talked and he told me about what he's going to do, and we just went off of that.

"He told me he liked my physicality and the way I'm able to fire off the ball."

Hightower-Reviere described himself as more of a pass-rushing D-end at this stage of his development.

"It's just my ability to get past (an offensive) tackle and put moves together," he said, "and just get to the quarterback."

But, he says, he'll have to get bigger and stronger.

"I'm going to be playing against grown men soon," he said, "and not little boys."

Brohm offered a scholarship last week. Hightower-Reviere withdrew his Hilltopper commitment a few days later, before making another.

"What I like about Coach Brohm is that he's a nice person and he's always been straight-forward with me," Hightower-Reviere said. "I know he'll be the same way when he coaches me."

Hightower-Reviere will make his official visit to Purdue as soon as the dead period lifts, the weekend of Jan. 14.
