Purdue freshman Jaden Ivey will remain sidelined by foot injury

Purdue will remain without promising freshman Jaden Ivey for the time being, as the rookie guard will remain sidelined for Tuesday's Oakland game with the foot issue that kept him out of the Clemson game in Florida.

Associate head coach Micah Shrewsberry, standing in for Matt Painter Monday, said it's unknown exactly when Ivey may return to the floor.

"Right now we don't have anything specific about his injury," Shrewsberry said. "For us, he'll be able to make it back for us at some point. Not tomorrow's game but we're hoping for the best with his rehab. We're not sure how long he's going to be out, but his spirits are high.

"It's not a major injury, so he should be able to be back sooner rather than later."

Ivey came off the bench in the opener vs. Liberty and scored 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting.

His absence amplifies the fact that Purdue is also without junior Eric Hunter in its backcourt. Coaches have suggested Hunter may be ahead of schedule In his recovery from a knee injury.
