Nick Holt can’t help but grin.
Soon after his arrival to Purdue, Holt started talking about how successful the linebackers could be in this defense, one he brought from Western Kentucky, because it’d allow them to do “fun” things. Could be blitzing, could be lining up all over the field, could be triggering downhill quickly in the run game.
In short, the defense was designed for the linebackers to be playmakers.
Now, armed with 10 games’ worth evidence in 2017, Holt smiles and says, “What’d I tell you?”
