New Jersey wide receiver Ishmael Hyman has seen the Boilermakers before.
The 6-foot, 170-pound senior-to-be was an unofficial invitee of Penn State, when the Nittany Lions hosted Purdue last season. So although Hyman was on the other sideline, he got a glimpse of the Boilers.
"It was a good game," he said. "Purdue runs a good offense for me too. They run a spread and the coach tells me they need receivers, so that would be good too.

"They were saying they need a break-out receiver with speed, and I have speed."
Hyman, who's been clocked at a sub-4.5 in the 40 and recently won a state championship in the 200, has 12 offers, his latest coming from Buffalo. It joins schools like nearby Rutgers, Syracuse, Temple, Boston College and Purdue. But Hyman's not in a rush to make an early decision.
"I'm not going to make my decision until the middle or late in my season," he said. "So I'm just trying to gather as much information as I can now."
Hyman is planning to take a few visits this summer, hoping to camp at Georgia, Florida and maybe Rutgers, with others as possibilities as well. He'd like to take another visit to Boston College too.
A trip to the Midwest isn't out of the question. He's gotten some interest from Oklahoma State, which wants him to camp there, and the Cowboys and other programs could lure him west.
"I would love to visit Purdue and Oklahoma State," he said. "Those were really the only two schools from the Midwest I would look at, unless like a Notre Dame offered."
Hyman says he'd like to be able to narrow his list to five before the season starts, then take official visits during the fall, if possible.
"I want to go to a school that's been keeping in close contact with me," he said. "Whether I like the area, and it's a good academic school; if they have a sports management program; the offense that they run; a whole bunch of stuff; if I can get some early playing time."
Last season at St. John Vianney, Hyman had 29 catches for 951 yards, for a ridiculous 32.7 yards per game, with 10 touchdowns and two kick returns for scores.
"I like the slot," he said. "I like going across the middle, quick routes, and using my speed to break away from defenders. But I also have to get better at everything, so teams can put me anywhere."
