Jack Cravaack may be an evolving defensive end — he's only played with his hand down for three seasons — but there are plenty of elements that have Purdue coach Jeff Brohm excited about the long defender.

Cravaack's 6-foot-5 frame will need strength, but he's willing to build it. His athleticism pops as a football player and as one of the best basketball players at Cincinnati's Madeira High School. And, maybe best of all for the intense Brohm, Cravaack's intangibles shine.

"I think because of his toughness and overall competitiveness, he'll be a durable player for us and a solid football player," Brohm said in December.
