The following are notes from Jeff Brohm's press conference on Monday, as Purdue gets ready to face Indiana for the Bucket after beating Iowa 24-15.
• Purdue, at 5-6, has a chance to win back the Old Oaken Bucket after four straight losses in the series, plus earn a postseason berth, if it can beat Indiana Saturday.
"We have a chance to play in a very meaningful game with a lot on the line," Brohm said.
Indiana, also 5-6, has a quality offense, one that can score in a variety of ways, says Brohm.
"They spread the field, throw the ball, go with some tempo," he said. "This will be a challenge for our defense due to their style of football."
• Injuries ...
- Ja'Whaun Bentley missed the last 15 plays on Saturday and is a bit nicked up, as he has been at times during the last several weeks.
Brohm says the middle linebacker will play Saturday, but likely after taking some practice time off during the week.
"He has some issues he's going to have to deal with. He's been limited (some in practice), but we'll be cautious to make sure he's ready for game day," Brohm said.
- Reserve linebacker Rob Simmons is also banged up and may miss Saturday.
"We'll see midway through the week where he's at," Brohm said.
- QB Elijah Sindelar is still nicked up, playing through his apparently left knee injury at Iowa.
"I was glad he made it through the game," Brohm said. "We'll be cautious with him this week and make sure (we get him to Saturday)."
- Backup QB/starting WR Jared Sparks is also nicked up, although more specifics weren't offered.
"We'll try to get him ready for the game," Brohm said.
• Purdue will alter its practice schedule this week, with Thanksgiving break. It'll go in the mornings on Wednesday and Thursday, having a lunch afterward on Thanksgiving. And players will get an opportunity for family time later, then return in the late morning on Friday.
