After a day off, Purdue was back at practice on Monday, going for about two hours at Bimel Complex.
• Two days after Purdue's first major scrimmage of training camp, the Boilermakers had a light-than-typical day.
They were in shoulder pads, but without helmets, running through drills without contact. Brohm says Purdue wanted to spend the day making corrections following the scrimmage.
"I think our guys were into it today," Brohm said. "We did some conditioning in the middle of practice to make sure we got that.
"But I do want to get our guys healthy. I think it's about pushing them to be their best but it's about being smart and making sure certain guys get to the game.
• Speaking of, Purdue had Terry Wright running around on Monday morning.
The transfer wide receiver has missed practices recently with shoulder and hamstring injuries, the shoulder being the "main concern," per Brohm.
"We're going to see how it goes in the next couple days," Brohm said, "and hopefully he can get through practice and get back on the field and get in the mix. That remains to be seen, but I'm hopeful that he can add to our receiving corps."
Running backs D.J. Knox and Markell Jones also were on the field on Monday after they had missed Saturday.
"We need them all out here," Brohm said. "I think they were having a good camp before they missed some practices. I want them to be able to practice more. I think we do enough to take care of their players that I'd like for them to be able to practice every day and fight their way through it.
"But at the same time, we're going to be smart. If someone needs some time to heal, we're going to do that."
• Offensive lineman Matt McCann is up with the first-team offense, getting a number of snaps at right guard.
"He gives us the ability to move him around from guard to tackle," Brohm said. "But having him healthy and back in the mix, just his size and experience helps us."
Bearooz Yacoobi had started camp as the No. 1 RG, with McCann as the backup.
Also, Shane Evans is taking No. 1 snaps at left guard, while also getting occasional snaps at center, according to Brohm. Mike Mendez was getting a majority of first-team left guard snaps to start camp.
