Report: Purdue may not meet with Fleck

As Purdue reaches the end of its search for its next football coach - tentative plans have been put in place for a Monday announcement, GoldandBlack.com has learned - a long-presumed candidate may not be.

USA Today's Dan Wolken reported Friday, citing a Purdue source, that Western Michigan coach P.J. Fleck might not meet with Purdue this weekend, as has been long presumed it would following Friday's MAC championship game.

Fleck has been generally viewed as Purdue's first choice due to his success this season and his reputation as a recruiter, but that might not be accurate, sources have indicated over the course of days and weeks.

Purdue is known to be very interested in Western Kentucky coach Jeff Brohm, as well as Air Force coach Troy Calhoun. Skip Holtz of Louisiana Tech has interviewed for the position, too, as have others.
