As expected, when Purdue players found out the names of their new position coaches earlier this spring, many headed to YouTube.

Research needed to be done.

Running back Richie Worship had heard his coach, Chris Barclay, was a decent player during his time at Wake Forest. The clips told him much more than that.

"That man was definitely an athlete," Worship said this spring, shaking his head. "He was a playmaker."

The video only was proof of the ridiculous numbers. Barclay left Wake Forest as the school's all-time leading rusher, amassing 4,032 yards and 40 rushing touchdowns. He was the ACC Player of the Year in 2005.

But Barclay wasn't the only who left Purdue players wide-eyed upon research.

Position after position, members of the coaching staff checked out. It’s loaded with elite-level college players.

And that matters.

“We have extremely knowledgeable coaches,” said Coach Jeff Brohm, who didn’t put up big numbers like brother Brian at Louisville but still has some clout after a long professional career at QB. “A lot of them have played the position at a high level, so they understand this is how it works on the chalkboard and the playbook but this is really how it works on the field. That’s important because it is a little bit different.”
