Today, GoldandBlack.com continues a new weekly feature. We're calling it the Weekly Word.
Why? Because it has words, it's posted weekly and we're just that unimaginative. (Actual feedback from Week 1: Definitely like the content, but a new name would be useful.)
Anyway, here are some random thoughts for the week, most of which will be Purdue-related.

BEING, AND STAYING, OLD
During a weekend bookended by the addition of a prodigiously talented high school kid and capped by the return of a proven veteran, the latter stands as every bit as significant.
No, there wasn't really any suspense surrounding Markus Bailey and his decision whether or not to take his degree off to the next level, but that shouldn't distract from the news' significance.
It's not exactly a bold assertion to make to point out that Bailey's importance to Purdue lies in the fact that he's a really good player and that the Boilermakers' up-side next season lies largely in defensive growth and having really good players typically jibes with improvement.
But it does go beyond that, to the topic of stability, steadiness.
