Just a season after moving from the Milwaukee Bucks to the Atlanta Hawks, Robinson is reportedly headed to the Philadelphia 76ers as part of a four-team, four-player trade that is expected to be finalized Wednesday.
According to ESPN, Robinson will head to Philly, Latrell Sprewell will move from New York to Minnesota, Keith Van Horn will move from Philadelphia to New York and Atlanta will get the contract of guard Terrell Brandon from Minnesota. Brandon didn't play last season, and may be done playing for good.
In his only season in Atlanta, Robinson - the No. 1 pick in the 1994 NBA draft after being named the '94 National Player-of-the-Year following his junior campaign with the Boilermakers - led the Hawks in scoring, averaging 20.8 points per game.
The 6-foot-8 forward, a former NBA all-star, has averaged 21.1 points per game over his nine-year NBA career, the first eight of which were spent with the Milwaukee Bucks.
Last summer, he was traded to Atlanta for Toni Kukoc, Leon Smith and a 2003 first-round draft pick.
If the deal is finalized, Robinson will be joining some familiar faces. Randy Ayers, who was named June 20 as the 76ers' new head coach, replacing Larry Brown, coached against Robinson while at Ohio State. Philadelphia assistant Chris Ford served as the head coach for the Bucks for two seasons while Robinson was in Milwaukee. Robinson would join a roster that includes NBA all-star Allen Iverson as well as Michigan State alum Eric Snow, who played against Robinson while the two were in the Big Ten.
Purdue's other active NBA player, center Brad Miller, appears to be on the move again, as he mulls lucrative free-agent offers from Utah and Denver after a year-and-a-half with the Indiana Pacers, as well as stints with the Charlotte Hornets and Chicago Bulls.
