Analysis: First look | Report card ($) | Boilermaker Breakdown ($)
Here's our look at the numbers as the Boilermakers face Indiana in one of the most important battles for the Old Oaken Bucket in recent memory.
3 - Previous times since 2000 Purdue had to win the Bucket game with Indiana to qualify for the postseason. It happened in 2002, 2011 and 2012 and the Boilermakers won the Bucket game decisively each time.
3- Previous times since 2000 in which Indiana had to win the Bucket game to earn bowl eligibility, and it accomplished it two times (2015 and '16) and fell short in 2006.
1,456 - Days since Purdue has been in possession of the Old Oaken Bucket when Saturday's game is played. That's one day longer than the previous longest drought endured during a four-game losing streak from 1944-47.
0 - Previous contests between Purdue and Indiana where the winner was guaranteed a postseason bowl bid, and the loser would in all likelihood have to stay home.*
2 - Most touchdown receptions in a game by a Boilermaker, accomplished twice this season. Freshman Jackson Anthrop did it first in the season opener against Louisville and the other was Anthony Mahongou in Week 11 against Iowa.
2-0 - Purdue's record in the Bucket Game when it is a contest between two first-year head coaches as it will be on Saturday. Purdue's Alex Agase (1973) and Joe Tiller (1997) defeated Indiana's Lee Corso and Cam Cameron, respectively.
2003 - The last season Purdue has held an opponent under 100 yards rushing five games in a row, a streak the Boilermakers will match if it can hold IU under the century mark on the ground on Saturday. In '03, Purdue accomplished the feat in the first five games of the year, on the heels of holding its last four opponents in 2002 under 100 yards rushing.
.667 - Purdue's winning percentage since 2013 when it doesn't commit a turnover in a game, as happened last week against Iowa. That's impressive considering Purdue's overall winning percentage during the time frame is just .237 (14-45). Since 2000, the Boilermakers are 26-5 (.839) when not committing a turnover in a game.
5-0 - Boilermakers' record in 2017 when it scores on its first possession.
*While not likely, Indiana could earn a bowl bid with a 5-7 record due to its APR rating being in the upper echelon of the Big Ten.
