MINNEAPOLIS — Some quick analysis from No. 11 Purdue's 73-69 loss Tuesday night at Minnesota.
CARSEN EDWARDS' CONTINUED ROAD STRUGGLES
Yes, Purdue lost this game for a lot of reasons, by fault of no one player, and yes, some of the Boilermakers' enduring strengths this season — the center position and foul line among them — failed it.
But here's a look at what Purdue has been able to overcome before on the road, but couldn't tonight.
Carsen Edwards' 7-for-31 shooting tonight brought his shooting percentage in Big Ten road games this season to just under 30 percent. He's 60-of-201 through nine conference games away from Mackey Arena.
His struggles against Minnesota tonight came on a season-high total for field goal attempts — the previous high was 27 at Maryland, where he was 8-of-27 — and included a string of nine straight misses after Purdue had tied the game with eight-and-a-half minutes left. To his credit, he made the three that made the possession call in the final seconds relevant, but otherwise, obviously that's a lot for Purdue to overcome.
