Some quick analysis from No. 14 Purdue's 73-56 win over Illinois.
CARSEN EDWARDS' BIG GAME
Obviously Purdue returned home hoping Mackey Arena could help leading scorer Carsen Edwards break out of a shooting funk that saw him make just 7-of-40 shots between the past two road games.
It did.
While he did turn the ball over six times, Edwards was 8-of-14 from the floor, one of his most efficient shooting outings of the season, and cut Illinois up off the dribble. Purdue usually seems better off when Edwards is attacking off the bounce and getting to the foul line, and Illinois' style of defense is a favorable one for him, as you may have noticed when Purdue played in Champaign last season. (He scored 40.)
But maybe the most encouraging development for Purdue on this night had nothing to do with offense.
