Grant Hermanns wanted to come to Purdue and see if he could be a contributor as a rookie in 2016.

But, realistically, he knew that likely wasn’t going to happen — and likely wouldn’t have been the best thing for him anyway. Hermanns weighed 263 pounds when he arrived on campus last summer. As a projected offensive tackle.

And yet, he still was on the travel roster during the end of the season, perhaps in part due to the various injuries at points to tackles Matt McCann, Cameron Cermin and Mike Mendez.
