Report: Painter will meet with Missouri
The next logical progression in Missouri's courtship of Purdue basketball coach Matt Painter may be about to take place.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch is reporting on its web site that Painter will soon meet with Mizzou officials "to gauge the school's commitment to the basketball program."
Painter has been on vacation in Florida and it remains unclear whether he's met in person with any Missouri representatives. It has been confirmed, though, that Painter's camp has been contact about the job vacated by Mike Anderson's move to Arkansas.
Sources have indicated resolution could come in the near term, perhaps as early as Tuesday. The Post-Dispatch reported an outcome is likely to be known by Wednesday.
From the outset of this process, Painter has been considered the primary candidate to replace Anderson.
Painter's been the head coach at his alma mater the past seven seasons, now carrying a record of 138-64 in that time.
Neither Purdue nor Missouri have made any public comments about Painter's involvement.
