Football opens Training Camp 2007 in less than a week. Prior, we'll thoroughly preview what you can expect to occur, potential emerging players and storylines, the top competitions and much, much more, while bringing you the sort of detailed coverage and analysis you'll not find anywhere else.
Next week, we'll take a position-by-position, player-by-player look at the '07 Boilermakers, with pre-camp news and notes.
The coverage spikes on Wednesday, when Coach Joe Tiller, Curtis Painter, Dorien Bryant and Cliff Avril will be in Chicago for the Big Ten's annual media day, where we'll have extensive on-site coverage.
Once camp opens, you can count on regular post-practice reports, player features, audio interviews and much more.
Football's 2008 recruiting efforts are off to a blazing start, with 13 new verbal commitments, highlighted by the recent pledge of blue-chip athlete Ralph Bolden, Ohio wide receiver Roy Roundtree and a couple of intriguing in-state prospects. Another commitment or two could be looming prior to the season.
And, of course, there's basketball, where Coach Matt Painter and his staff seek to follow up their heralded 2007 class by signing national, blue-chip recruit Tyler Zeller as part of what should be a three-player class.
While Purdue has yet to score its first commitment for its '08 men's hoops class, August should be a pivotal month, as prospects return home from the July evaluation scene and begin drawing offers, making campus visits and deciding on colleges.
Purdue's expected to host a variety of visits in August, at which time a commitment or two could come in.
This is just part of what will be dominating GoldandBlack.com headlines in the weeks and months to come.
Year-round, GoldandBlack.com brings you the most-detailed coverage of Purdue football and basketball, recruiting and commitment updates, our premium Knucklehead Central message board, expert commentary, "BOILING OVER," chats, photos, video and much, much more, which says nothing of the value of the Rivals.com network, its legion of nationwide sites and its state-of-the-art recruiting database.
